By repeating and reworking personal imagery and symbols, a rich rapport develops between the artist and the print. This unique workshop will focus on innovative techniques to enable printing without using a press. Through this two day workshop you will learn the basic steps of monoprinting. Class time will be spent exploring transfer, embossing, stamping, rubbing, and texture. Mixed media will be thoroughly investigated using pastel, acrylic paint, artist crayons, and other media.

Found Object Sculpture “ Found objects” are objects that have been created for a purpose other than art, and are usually every day objects, easily recognized for a utilitarian function. Their meaning in every day life is usually derived from their context in which we use them. By altering the objects’ context, or their form we can modify their meaning and significance. In this workshop you will learn different forms of joining objects, such as cold joins of metals, cutting and joining woods and building sculpture that is structurally sound.

Polaroid Transfer Printing: Polaroid transfer printing is great fun and produces rich watercolor effects. The ease of this medium makes it useful for work at home with a minimum of setup. Polaroid transfer has been put to use by many artists and can be used as a matrix for creating even more exciting results. In this course we will work specifically with slide images. We will produce the Polaroid print from a slide original. Class time will be spent on evaluating appropriate images for transfer, mechanics of exposure, surfaces to print on and manipulation of the final image. The truly unique results are unobtainable by any other means!
Materials List:
Hair dryer and household iron
Several developed slides in 35 mm format, detailed subject matter is a good idea, high contrast is also good.
Dark or fuzzy slides do not transfer well.
The course fee covers 10 exposures.
The instructor will provide film and paper.
(If you wish to make more exposures you may purchase additional film from the Instructor).

Painting from the Soul: The emphasis of this class is on creative process as well as technical methods. Consider this workshop as “boot camp” for creativity. Explore your creative potential to its fullest and experience different ways of generating abstract imagery, all the while getting concise hands on instruction in painting techniques from a skilled instructor. Using music and movement, we will break down barriers to creating and explore:
· what different visual elements such as line, mark, shape and color can do, and how they can become the subject of a design.
· the infinite variety of ways in which these elements can relate to one another, and to the design space they share.
· different ways of developing a painting, and how evidence of this "history" can be part of the subject of a work as well.
